Education

NuGenesis Farm, Inc. will incorporate a state-of-the-art education center to provide the general public, farmers, schools, culinary professionals, medical professionals, employers and the chronically ill with information about the proven health benefits of eating select foods.

Education covers all aspects of ‘field to table’ relationships and connections, and attendees will learn about food preparation methods that impact disease prevention, recovery and wellness.

NuGenesis Farm conducts it’s community outreach through meals with our chefs and dietitians; presentations to health practitioners and service groups; and field experiences with school groups.

The Education Team of NuGenesis Farm has developed reciprocal partnerships with several local schools in Waukesha County to aid in the development and implementation of a “Food as Medicine” curriculum and to assist in the application of the curriculum in class through on-site student teachers.  The Team has also compiled a survey that participating schools will use to assess their new curriculum.  The survey and consent forms have been approved by the Institutional Review Board at UW-Waukesha. In addition, the Education Team is assisting partner schools in acquiring food-based and ‘how to start a school garden’ curriculum.

Our school partnerships include experiential and educational opportunities through tours and chef demos at the farm and the development of culinary nutrition opportunities at each school. NuGenesis Farm offers a speakers bureau including doctors, dietitians, chefs and others addressing issues related to “Food as Medicine” and potential career opportunities.   If you would like more information about becoming a reciprocal partner with NuGenesis Farm please contact Kathy Bubinas kathleen.bubinas@uwc.edu or Chris Rohde Christopher.rohde@phci.org

New garden-based curriculum targets Wisconsin’s students eating more fruits and vegetables. NGF would be an excellent resource to enrich the classroom experience.

NuGenesis Farm received funding from Good Harvest Market in Waukesha, WI to develop the “Good Harvest Secret Pizza Garden.”  This serves as our outdoor classroom to teach how to grow, harvest and cook food to maximize its nutritional value.   In September 2010, we held our first class in the garden and it was a smashing success!
